I'm not sure if you can smoke it and what it has to do with coyotes, but Coyote Tobacco (Nicotiana attenuata) belongs to the Nightshade (Solanaceae) family like Jimsom Weed (aka Sacred Datura, aka Datura wrightii) which can be both a poison and a halucingen. Coyote Tobacco grows sporadically around Yosemite and is easiest to find at "new housing" (the Sierra Court employee residential area), but you can find it along the highways at least up to 6,000 feet. The long, deep blossoms grow on plants typically of about 2-3 feet tall.
