Conness Approach

Conness Approach

View of Conness from Carnegie Institute, shortly after leaving Sawmill campground. The high point in the photo is a false summit and the true summit is a fair bit to the north (right).

The blue dots mark the approximate location of the faint approach trail, which stays to the right of the drainage from Alpine Lake. We went to the left of the Alpine Lake drainage and continued up the lefthand ridge, which is longer, and eventually traversed the snowfield to get to the east ridge. The quicker approach, which we found on the descent, follows roughly follows the blue dots.
