A member of the Phlox (Polemoniaceae) family, the Grand Collomia (Collomis grandiflora) is also known as Mountain Collomia and Large-flowered Collomia and is widespread throughout California.
According to Jepson, the flower is yellow or orange. The Laws Field Guide puts it in with the orange flowers. Most pictures show it as almost white, but I've kept it as "orange" in my classification, though unless I've got the wrong identification, it looks more white to me.
